Where your transformative sailing journey begins
Building teams and developing leaders ranks among the greatest challenges facing even the most successful organizations.
With the symbiosis of business success and team building in mind, The Gratitude Sailing Institute is pleased to announce its exclusive Executive Teambuilding Maritime Challenge. This innovative program offers dynamic, visionary companies the opportunity to bring key executives together aboard a sailing yacht whilst traversing the Chesapeake Bay on an excursion between historic St. Michaels, Rock Hall, and Annapolis.
Day 1: The Executive Teambuilding Maritime Challenge embarks from historic and picturesque Annapolis, Maryland, less than 100 miles from Philadelphia, Washington, and Baltimore. An important pre-trip safety briefing serves as our introduction… then anchors aweigh! Destination: St. Michaels (three-day program) or Rock Hall (two-day program). A light lunch, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be served aboard as the yacht and her crew traverse some of the prettiest waters in North America. Our day concludes with a debrief of today's experiences, focusing on the role of leadership and servant leadership. Dinner awaits us at a nearby restaurant. The team defines the next day's Nautical Challenge, and the principals and interaction of leadership necessary to successfully complete the exercise, before hitting the rack either aboard or at a prearranged local hotel.
Day 2: After a safety and weather briefing, the team will experience on-board instruction, followed by the Nautical Challenge. The success metric is clearly defined: work as a team to round several specific nautical points using charts, navigation tools and leadership, ending up in Rock Hall or St. Michaels, MD. After dinner, the team interacts with a highly skilled motivational speaker pre-chosen by you and The Gratitude Sailing Institute faculty. Part of this engagement consists of each team member giving an overview of what they learned and experienced in the Nautical Challenge, and its application to everyday business activities. A designated Captain is chosen by consensus of the team for the next day's sail, before turning in for some well-earned sleep.
Day 3: Seasoned Annapolis sailors report never tiring of the Chesapeake Bay entrance to Annapolis Harbor with the US Naval Academy Dome, the Maryland Capital building where George Washington resigned his commission, and a host of spires and buildings looming on the horizon. This image awaits the unified team as they eat a substantial breakfast and depart early on the final day, led by the designated Captain, back to the finish line in Annapolis. There, they experience the Executive Teambuilding Maritime Challenge final debriefing and are awarded diplomas certifying their successful completion of the course.
Value, results, building a cohesive team, and memories are the on the ship manifest, and are delivered to innovative, progressive companies that participate in this program. The Gratitude Sailing Institute staff awaits your contact, assuring that your safety, education and fun will be part of the quality product delivered. Spring and Fall bookings are available.
We look forward to hearing from you and, until then, safe seas!
